Research & Inspiration
Before designing, I explored a wide range of event posters on Pinterest to understand current design trends and common elements.
I focused on:
- Layout styles for event information
- Typography and hierarchy
- Creative visual concepts

- Creative visual concepts
This research helped me identify what makes an event poster both informative and visually compelling. It also inspired me to create something that felt modern, digital, and reflective of the creativity within the ETBD major.
Ideation & Early Concepts
Each member of my team developed their own marketing concept for the expo.
During ideation, I:
- Created multiple poster concepts exploring different visual directions
- Experimented with layout, typography, and overall style
- Focused on how to best represent the identity of the major

All concepts were compiled into a Google Form and shared with the class for voting. My design was selected, and I moved forward as the lead designer for the marketing materials.
Design Process
After my concept was chosen, I designed a full set of marketing assets, ensuring consistency across all formats.
Deliverables included:
- A 12x18 main event poster
- A digital monitor version for display screens
- A version for the college’s events website
- A social media version
- A simplified version for a large projector during the event

Each version maintained a consistent visual theme while adapting to different contexts and formats.
Throughout the process, I:
- Iterated on designs based on peer feedback
- Refined layout and hierarchy for clarity
- Ensured all assets clearly communicated key event details

Final Outcome
The final result was a cohesive marketing campaign that:
- Successfully communicated the event across multiple platforms
- Maintained a strong and consistent visual identity
- Received positive feedback from peers for being fresh and different from previous years

The system of designs allowed the event to be promoted effectively both digitally and physically throughout the academic building.

Reflection
This project taught me the importance of balancing creativity with efficiency, especially within a team environment.
I learned:
- How to design within real-world constraints and timelines
- How to create scalable designs across multiple formats
- The value of feedback and iteration in a collaborative setting

One of the most impactful takeaways was learning about the concept of a minimum viable product. As someone who tends to strive for perfection before sharing ideas, this project helped me realize that starting simple and iterating leads to stronger outcomes.
This mindset has changed how I approach design, allowing me to work more freely and make faster progress.
If I revisited this project, I would:
- Explore even more experimental visual directions
- Test different versions of the design for audience response
- Expand the campaign with additional digital content
